1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use our service:
- Email address (required for account creation)
- Password (encrypted, when you sign up with email)
- When you sign in with Google: we receive your email, name, and profile picture from your Google account
- Usage data (how you interact with our service)
- Analytics data (to improve our service)
- Advertising source data: if you arrive from one of our ads, we store the campaign code, UTM parameters, and Google click ID from the link, in your browser and on your account, so we can tell which ads lead to sign-ups and purchases
- IP address and device information
- Content you choose to use in a promo, such as screenshots, screen recordings, and text (see section 5 for how long we keep it)
2. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to:
- Maintain your session and authentication state
- Remember your preferences
- Analyze how you use our service
- Improve our service performance
Types of cookies we use:
- Essential cookies: Required for basic functionality
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand how users interact with our service and measure the results of our advertising (if you accept them)
- Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences
You can control cookies through your browser settings. However, disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide and improve our services
- Process payments (if applicable)
- Send important service updates
- Analyze and improve user experience

4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google OAuth 2.0 - For user authentication
- Paddle - For payment processing (Paddle.com acts as the Merchant of Record)
- Vercel - For website hosting
- PostHog - For analytics and user behavior tracking
- Google Ads - For measuring ad conversions (sign-ups, exports, and purchases) when you arrive from a Google or YouTube ad and have accepted analytics cookies
- Firebase Database - For secure data storage and management
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) - For server-side video rendering in the Promo Editor
- Anthropic - For writing promo copy when you use Generate Promo in the Promo Editor
- Resend - For sending account and service emails (e.g. check-ins and support)
If you connect an AI assistant to PromoGen (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or Cursor), that assistant is a service you chose and use under your own account with its provider. It is not a service provider of ours. See "AI assistant integration" in section 5.
These services have their own privacy policies and may collect additional information. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies for more details.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored securely using Firebase Database. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Mockup Editor: All image and video processing in the Mockup Editor happens entirely locally in your browser. No content you upload is ever sent to our servers.
Promo Editor: Video exports in the Promo Editor are rendered on our secure servers (AWS). Any content you upload for a promo export is transmitted over an encrypted connection, used solely to render your video, and permanently deleted from our servers immediately after your export is ready for download. We do not retain, analyze, or share this content.
Generate Promo (in the Promo Editor): You can drop screens in PromoGen and ask us to write a promo for you. When you do:
- Screens you drop stay in your browser. They are stored locally on your device. The original files are never uploaded to our servers. Your browser creates small preview images and basic measurements (such as size, colors, and whether it is a phone or computer screen) and sends only these, plus any short note you type, to us. We keep them for 2 hours, after which they are deleted automatically, usually within a day.
- Anthropic receives those previews, measurements, and your note so it can write the promo. We send this over an encrypted connection using our Anthropic API account. Anthropic processes it under its commercial API terms.
- The promos we make for you (the text, the chosen style, and references to your screens) are stored for up to 23 hours so you can open them, then deleted automatically. Promos you open and save in the editor are kept like any other project in your account.
AI assistant integration (PromoGen MCP): You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or Cursor, to your PromoGen account so it can make promos for you. When you do:
- Screens you drop in the PromoGen drop area stay in your browser. They are stored locally on your device for up to 6 hours and are never uploaded to our servers. Your browser creates small preview images and basic measurements (such as size, colors, and whether it is a phone or computer screen) and sends only these to us. We keep them for 2 hours, after which they are deleted automatically, usually within a day.
- The promos your assistant makes (the text it writes, the chosen style, and references to your screens) are stored for up to 23 hours so you can open them, then deleted automatically. Promos you open and save in the editor are kept like any other project in your account.
- Your AI assistant receives the previews, measurements, and promo details so it can write your promo. It processes them under its provider's terms and privacy policy, as part of your conversation. How long your conversations are kept is decided by your settings with that provider, not by us.
- Connecting an assistant needs your approval on a PromoGen page. The assistant then gets a connection token that only works for making promos: it cannot see your other projects, use your credits, or change your account. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or Cursor keeps that connection on their side. You can see and disconnect every connected assistant in Account settings. Connections unused for 90 days end automatically.
We use this content only to make your promos. We do not sell it or use it to train AI models.
Data may be stored and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States and European Union.
6. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for EU data transfers
- Data processing agreements with our service providers
- Compliance with applicable data protection laws
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you maintain an account with us. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving your deletion request, subject to any legal requirements to retain certain information.
Temporary content from Generate Promo and the AI assistant integration is deleted automatically on the schedule described in section 5, whether or not you keep your account.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Opt out of analytics tracking
- Data portability
- Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent
For EU users, these rights are granted under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For California residents, these rights are granted under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
